Naidu's Bail Petition Posted To Nov 22

The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Tuesday scheduled the hearing for Chandrababu Naidu's anticipatory bail in the Amaravati inner ring road scam for November 22.

The court convened for the hearing on Tuesday, during which Advocate General Sriram informed the court that there was no intention to arrest Chandrababu Naidu as the government had granted him interim bail for health reasons.

Sriram explained that Naidu was currently undergoing treatment in hospitals in Hyderabad, emphasizing that the government had no plans to take any action in this regard. Upon hearing this assurance, the court adjourned the case to November 22.

The allegations against Chandrababu Naidu pertain to the period from 2014 to 2019 when he allegedly favored businessman Lingamaneni Ramesh by altering the alignment of the inner ring road in Amaravati.

The changes made provided exemptions to the lands owned by Ramesh and Heritage Foods, a company owned by Chandrababu Naidu's family.

Under the new alignment, the inner ring road passes through the lands belonging to Ramesh and Heritage Foods, granting them direct access to the inner ring road.

Additionally, Chandrababu Naidu filed for anticipatory bail in the free sand scam, a case filed by the Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (APCID) last week.

The allegations revolve around Naidu's purported changes to the sand policy three times between 2014 and 2019, which allegedly benefited several leaders of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).

The implementation of the free sand policy was also allegedly intended to benefit TDP leaders involved in sand quarrying activities at various sand reaches in the state.
