Naidu turns philosophical, talks about death, gods!

A few days ago, YSR Congress party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy made some derogatory comments on the age and ability of Telugu Desam Party president and present chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

Jagan predicted that Naidu was growing old and he might be in politics for a maximum of three or four years.

“This is the age he should spend the rest of his life praying the Almighty, saying Krishna and Rama. But if he continues to do witch-hunt of political opponents, he will certainly go to hell,” he cursed.

His curses drew massive counter-attack from the Telugu Desam Party leaders, who said Naidu was still agile and has the energy to rule the state for many more years to come, unlike Jagan who cannot even bend to break a coconut.

Surprisingly, Naidu spoke in a completely philosophical tone, while launching the P4 scheme at Mangalagiri on Tuesday. He talked about the death, post-death scenario and the need to have a spiritual outlook.

“Everyone will eventually die, and no one is eternal. If we believe that we are permanent on this earth, it is an illusion. We don’t have a permanent passport to stay in this world,” he said.

He went on to say that some people utilize their lives effectively, while others misuse them.

“As long as we are alive, we have to focus on doing good for others, not acquiring wealth. Material possessions gained during life must be left behind at death,” he said.

Naidu said one should strive to do good deeds that will be remembered by others even after death.

“This is the purpose of human life and the only lasting legacy, so let us work with humanity,” he said.

The chief minister also spoke about leading a spiritual life.

“Temples, mosques, and churches are essential to prevent societal chaos. Visiting these places allows individuals to unburden themselves to God, which helps in maintaining health and relieving stress,” he said.

On spiritual institutions’ role in addressing the needs of the poor people, Naidu said spiritual guides should not only provide financial support and upliftment to families but also address mental health issues when needed.

“Addressing mental health challenges is crucial for resolving many societal problems,” he said.

Analysts wonder whether Naidu is contemplating withdrawing from politics after this current term as the chief minister and focus on a spiritual journey.

“Maybe, that is the reason why he is grooming his son Lokesh as his successor,” an analyst said.
