Jagan Reddy is making every effort to convince the voters that his arch rival and TDP president Chandrababu has a secret understanding with the Congress, while continuing the alliance with the BJP.
Particularly while campaigning in Kadapa, Jagan is trying to convey a strong message to the people that it was Naidu who was the mastermind behind the revolt of his (Jagan’s) sister and Andhra Congress president Y S Sharmila against him.
“Chandrababu Naidu deals with the BJP by day and the Congress by night. The main intention of the Congress is to see that the YSRCP votes are split, so that the Chandrababu Naidu wins the elections,” Jagan said, addressing a public meeting in Kadapa.
He said people should decide the politics of Kadapa, not the party that got fewer votes than NOTA and divided the state.
Taking a dig at his sister indirectly, Jagan said those who claimed to be the heirs of YSR had joined hands with his enemies to destroy Y S Avinash Reddy's life.
“They want to create a political vacuum in Kadapa district, but I have faith in Avinash, who will win with a huge majority," he said.
The chief minister said he had left the Congress and contested independently for the Kadapa seat after his father's death and established the YSR Congress Party.
“The resounding victory, with an overwhelming majority from the 5.45 lakh people, demonstrated the people's unwavering support. When I took oath as MP in Delhi, every parliamentarian turned their attention to know about Jagan," he said.
He alleged that in its bid to tarnish the YSR family's political legacy, the Congress employed every agency against him.
“Now, the very same Congress plans to pay respects at YSR Ghat in Idupulapaya. The party that degraded my father and falsely imprisoned me for 16 months is now visiting his grave. Voting for the Congress will be a betrayal of the YSR legacy," he asserted.
