Naidu Gets Slight Relief from HC

The Andhra Pradesh High Court, handling two distinct anticipatory bail pleas submitted by imprisoned former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, has directed the AP-CID not to arrest him until Thursday in the Angallu attempted murder case.

Additionally, the court specified that Naidu should not face arrest until the following Monday in the Amaravati IRR alignment case.

Naidu has been implicated in an FIR concerning alleged irregularities in the construction of an IRR in Amaravati during the TD's term. The Angallu case relates to the violence reported during Naidu's roadshow in Chittoor district in August.

Naidu's legal representatives approached the High Court seeking anticipatory bail in the Amaravati Inner Ring Road and Angallu violence cases.

The prosecution argued that CID needed to arrest Naidu in the Angallu case as he was primarily responsible for the violence. In the Amaravati IRR scam, CID also needed to question Naidu, so anticipatory bail should not be granted.

Naidu and several other TD leaders are accused of inciting an attack on local leaders of the ruling YSRC in Angallu village in Madanapalle mandal in Chittoor district on September 7. Several YSRC workers and policemen were injured, and vehicles were damaged.

However, Naidu denied any involvement, alleging that the YSRC government had framed him to harass him and his party workers.

The High Court also instructed the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) court in Vijayawada not to issue any orders on CID's petitions for Naidu’s custody until Monday in the IRR scam case.

Meanwhile, the hearing on the PT warrant in the FiberNet scam case in the ACB court in Vijayawada was postponed to Thursday.

CID lawyer Vivekananda presented arguments on the need to question Naidu in the FiberNet scam and the requirement for a PT warrant. Consequently, the ACB court rescheduled the hearing.

The ACB court rejected Naidu’s lawyers' plea regarding the ‘right to audience’ petition and postponed arguments in the call data petition to Thursday afternoon.
