Modi was right on bifurcation of AP!

There was some truth in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s comment that the bifurcation of combined Andhra Pradesh was done in an unscientific and hurried manner, as it had resulted in great injustice to residuary Andhra Pradesh.

This was the opinion of former Congress MP from Rajahmundry Vundavalli Arun Kumar, who was one of the MPs who strongly resisted the bifurcation of the combined state.

Speaking to media, Vundavalli alleged that the Congress and the BJP had joined hands and divided the united Andhra Pradesh state only for their political gains.

He said it was true that the state reorganisation bill was passed in the most disturbed climate without any proper discussion on the issue.

He also wondered how the Centre had divided the combined state and formed Andhra Pradesh without identifying its capital city. “Great injustice was done to Andhra Pradesh part due to this unscientific division,” he said.

Vundavalli, however, said Modi’s comments on the bifurcation of the state after eight years were absolutely meaningless. In the last eight years, the Modi government had done grave injustice to the state by not fulfilling the promises given to the state.

He sought to know why the political parties in the state, including the ruling YSR Congress party, were not questioning the Centre on the injustice meted out to the state.

“They are, in fact, supporting the BJP in many ways and are not discussing the issues confronting the state post bifurcation,” he alleged.

The former MP from Rajahmundry said not a single MP from Andhra Pradesh had reacted to Modi’s comments.

“It is very clear that the Centre was showing step-motherly attitude towards Andhra Pradesh. It is time the YSRC MPs should fight for the rights of the state,” he said.

Vundavalli alleged that the regional party leaders were afraid of taking on Narendra Modi, because the Centre was fixing them in one case or the other.

“I am surprised why Jagan Mohan Reddy is scared of questioning the Centre on the state issues. In the coming days, the Centre will not care AP at all,” he said.

He also took a dig at the Jagan government for resorting to power cuts in the state.

“The power supply situation in the state is pretty bad. If this is the situation in February, one can understand what the crisis would be in the next three months,” he warned.
