
After being in jail for more than 100 days, former IAS officer and secretary to former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy got the bail on Saturday in connection with the Rs 3,500 crore liquor scam that allegedly took place during the previous YSR Congress party government.
Along with Dhanunjay Reddy, former officer on special duty in the chief minister’s office P Krishna Mohan Reddy and director of Bharati Cements Govindappa Balaji also secured default bail, in the wake of submission of charge sheets by the special investigation team (SIT) probing the scam.
The ACB special court in Vijayawada delivered the judgement in the evening granting bail to these three accused, hours after granting interim bail to YSRCP MP from Rajampet P V Mithun Reddy, to enable him to cast his vote in the Vice-Presidential elections.
Dhanunjaya Reddy (A-31), Krishna Mohan Reddy 9 (A-32), and Balaji Govindappa (A-33) had filed default bail petitions last month.
After hearing the matter, the court stated that arguments from both sides were completed. Accordingly, on Saturday, the ACB Court issued orders granting bail to all three.
As per information provided by key accused Raj Kasireddy, the SIT arrested Balaji Govindappa on May 14, and Dhanunjaya Reddy and Krishna Mohan Reddy on May 17 in connection with the liquor scam.
Following this, the three moved the ACB Court seeking bail. After conducting the hearing, the court issued orders today (Saturday) granting them bail.
The court also directed all three accused to surrender their passports to the authorities. Additionally, it ordered each of them to submit two sureties of ₹1 lakh each.
