Left Parties Banking On Pawan Kalyan

Left Parties Banking On Pawan Kalyan

The Communist parties, which have virtually lost their ground in the Telugu states, are desperately trying to sustain their identity in the coming days.

The recent assembly elections in Telangana turned out to be a big disaster for the CPI and the CPI (M). While the CPI tried to prove its existence by joining the grand alliance but lost miserably, the CPI (M) virtually disappeared from the state as all its candidates under the banner of Bahujan Left Front lost their deposits.

Now, in Andhra Pradesh, they are banking on the Jana Sena Party. They initially tried to sail with the YSR Congress party, but their game plan did not succeed, as YSRC president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy is hell-bend on contesting alone in the elections.

Having no other option, they are looking up to Jana Sena, hoping that they would at least get a couple of seats in the assembly elections.

On Friday, the Left parties attended a round-table conference held by Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan at Visakhapatnam.

All the three parties came to an understanding that they would fight the elections together. Prior to any seat sharing talks, they wanted to give an impression that that they were putting up a joint fight on various issues.

Pawan said the meeting had discussed issues like EVMs tampering, mining policies and fact finding committee report on injustice done to the state by the Centre.

“We also discussed the strategies on how to fight jointly in the coming elections,” he said.

CPI General Secretary, Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy said that in the meeting we have discussed the conservation of the environment.

Because with the increase in mining activities different environmental issues are developing.

CPI M leader B V Raghavulu said Jana Sena and Left Parties has decided to fight together on the public issues, environmental issues, civil rights, and social justice issues.
