Lagadapati, Vundavalli away from politics!

Lagadapati, Vundavalli away from politics!

They continue to remain in political limelight, but when it comes to electoral politics, they prefer to stay away from contesting the elections.

This is the peculiar position of former MPs – Lagadapati Rajagopal from Vijayawada and Vundavalli Arun Kumar from Rajahmundry.

Both the leaders appear to be very active in politics, expressing their views strongly on any issue, whether it is Polavaram irrigation project or Amaravati capital.

While Lagadapati does not hesitate to reveal his political leanings, Vundavalli, too, does not hide his antipathy towards Telugu Desam Party and its president N Chandrababu Naidu, though he does not sound to be leaning towards YSR Congress party.

Now that it is election time in Andhra Pradesh, speculations were rife that Lagadapati and Vundavalli might enter electoral politics again and contest from their previous constituencies.

There was a talk that Lagadapati might join the TDP, as he had met Naidu several times in the recent past, and might be fielded from Vijayawada.

On other hand, there was a talk that YSR Congress party might pitch in Vundavalli at the eleventh hour and field him from Rajahmundry or other important constituency.

It is believed that Vundavalli has been secretly advising Jagan on crucial political matters.

But, as the electioneering started picking up, there is no indication of Lagadapati and Vundavalli entering the battle field.

On Tuesday, Lagadapati made it clear that there was no question of joining any party and contesting elections.

“I have taken political sanyas and I will stick to my decision,” he said.

Vundavalli too did not show any inclination to contest the polls. He, however, is continuing his bashing of Chandrababu Naidu. Needless to say, it will help the YSR Congress party indirectly.
