Kesineni all set to call it quits to TDP?

It appears Telugu Desam Party MP from Vijayawada Kesineni Srinivas, also known as Nani, has decided to put an end to the shadow-boxing he had been doing with party leadership once and for all.

Though it has been known in the political circles that Kesinani has been feeling uncomfortable with TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu right from the days of elections to Vijayawada Municipal Corporation early this year, he has not been resorting to any anti-party activities.

Unlike senior MLA from Rajahmundry and former minister Gorantla Buchaiah Chowdary, Kesineni did not even give an open threat to the party on quitting the party and later compromising with the party leadership after being called for talks.

But it is an open secret that Kesineni has been keeping away from party activities for quite some time.

Very recently, he announced that he won’t contest the next elections and his daughter Kesineni Swetha, too, would keep away from politics and return to her business.

Now, Kesineni has gone a step further and given firm indications that he won’t continue in the TDP anymore.

He got the photograph of Chandrababu Naidu removed from Kesineni Bhavan. It was replaced by a photograph of him with Tata Group chairman Ratan Tata.

Besides other photographs the works he had taken up with his own funds apart from Tata Trust also adorned the hall.

What is more, the flex board containing the pictures of TDP leaders in-charge of seven assembly segments under his parliamentary constituency and other senior party leaders. It clearly shows that Kesineni has come out of the TDP shadow once and for all.

Now, the question is what Kesineni would do after deserting the TDP. Sources said he, too, is eyeing the Bharatiya Janata Party on the lines of his erstwhile colleagues Sujana Chowdary, CM Ramesh and others. He continues to have good relations with these TDP-turned-BJP leaders.

Defection of a strong leader like Kesineni to the BJP is definitely a big setback for the TDP, but at the same time, it has a benefit that it would put an end to the group rivalries in the party in Vijayawada. But if more TDP leaders follow Kesineni path, it would be a big blow to Naidu!
