JD makes tall claims: Any takers?

Former joint director of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) V V Lakshminarayana made a vain bid to get into active politics by contesting the Visakhapatnam parliamentary elections in 2019 on Jana Sena Party ticket.

He polled a good number of votes (around 2.88 lakh), but after his defeat in the elections, he resigned from Jana Sena Party stating part-time politics of Pawan Kalyan as the reason.

Since then, Lakshminarayana has been trying to hit the headlines with his statements on his political plans, but nobody appears to be taking his statements seriously.

He is creating an impression that he has a lot of demand in politics and every political party wants to take him into its fold.

In his interaction with ABN-Andhra Jyothy managing director V Radhakrishna on Sunday, Lakshminarayana said he has invitations from all the political parties.

“Even YSR Congress party invited me to join the party before 2019 elections. The invitation is still there and I shall decide on it at an appropriate time,” he said, reacting to a question as to whether he would join the party of Jagan Mohan Reddy, whom he had sent to jail during his stint in the CBI in a quid pro quo case.

This is a ridiculous claim, as the YSRCP treats him as a bitter enemy for sending Jagan to jail. The party has targeted him when he entered politics and also during the Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha elections.

Moreover, everybody knows Jagan will not forget or forgive enemies just like that. So, the question of him inviting Lakshminarayana, who has neither money nor public standing, into the YSRC.

Yet, there is a campaign within the Telugu Desam Party circles that there is no surprise if Lakshminarayana joins the YSRCP.

The social media groups of the TDP are spreading the talk that the former CBI JD had deliberately contested the Visakhapatnam elections only to sabotage the TDP.

Lakshminaryana also claimed that he had received invitation from Bharat Rashtra Samithi and its Andhra unit president Thota Chandrasekhar had extended invitation to him.

“I told him I will definitely consider the offer at an appropriate time,” he said.

Lakshminarayana, however, claimed that he would contest the next elections either on some party ticket or if necessary, as an independent.

“If people accept me, I shall continue in politics. Otherwise, I will drop out,” he said.
