JC foul-mouths IPS officer, YSRCP seeks action

Controversial Telugu Desam Party leader and Tadipatri municipal chairman J C Prabhakar Reddy, who is known for his aggressive character and foul-mouth attitude, is once again in the news for wrong reasons.

A video clipping of JC brother using abusive language against an IPS officer – assistant superintendent of police Rohit Kumar Choudhary at Tadipatri – went viral on social media, prompting the opposition YSR Congress party launching a tirade against him.

According to a YSRCP statement, JC publicly threatened and humiliated the ASP while the officer was carrying out official duties.

In the footage — widely circulated by local TV channels and social platforms — the TDP chairman can be seen angrily berating the officer, questioning his credentials.

JC even warned that he would “sit in front of” the officer’s house and asserting that he possessed a licensed revolver.

The episode, the YSRCP said, amounts to an open threat to a serving IPS officer and a brazen assault on the rule of law.

Video excerpts show Prabhakar Reddy repeatedly accusing the ASP of ignorance of local conditions and protocol, and telling the officer to “be careful” and leave “for his own good,” while threatening to send legal notices and stage protests.

YSRCP leaders criticised the incident as further evidence of what they described as a climate of “intimidation” and “Red Book governance” in parts of the state under the coalition government.

The party pointed to earlier confrontations in Tadipatri — including reported attempts to block the entry of YSRCP leader Kethireddy Pedda Reddy into his residence despite court orders — to argue that administrative authority in the area has been undermined by political pressure and muscle tactics.

YSRCP spokespersons have demanded that the state administration register an FIR against Prabhakar Reddy and initiate an impartial probe into the episode.

In its public statement, the YSRCP urged the police leadership and the state government to ensure the safety and dignity of law-enforcement personnel and to take “strict disciplinary and legal action” against anyone found to have threatened or obstructed officers performing their duties.

The party also warned of demonstrations outside the ASP’s office should the government fail to act promptly.
