YSR Congress party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s recent visit to Rentapalla in Palnadu district has stirred controversy, particularly over a provocative banner that featured a dialogue inspired by the movie Pushpa 2.
During the visit, a flex banner displayed a threatening line resembling the film’s dialogue: “Once YSRCP comes to power in 2029, we’ll chop heads one by one like at Gangamma Jatara… Rappa Rappa!”
The slogan drew criticism from pro-government media, which highlighted the violent tone and questioned the appropriateness of such messaging in a democratic setup.
At a press conference, when journalists brought up the controversial banner, Jagan responded sarcastically.
He asked them to repeat what was written and feigned ignorance, saying: “Isn’t that a movie dialogue? Which movie is it from?”
When reporters replied it was from Pushpa 2, Jagan quipped, “So what’s wrong with using a film dialogue on a banner?” He went on to say, “Aren’t we still in a democracy?”
Then, in a light-hearted moment that surprised many, Jagan mimicked the “Rappa Rappa” dialogue and even performed the signature beard-stroke gesture from the film, leaving the room laughing.
A journalist later pointed out that the person holding the banner was actually a TDP worker from Pedakurapadu constituency, who still holds an official party membership.
Responding with a twist, Jagan said: “Oh! So, driven by frustration with the government’s failures, even TDP workers are joining YSRCP and voicing their anger with ‘Rappa Rappa’? That tells you how bad the government has become!”
Jagan turned the controversy into a political punchline — making headlines and raising eyebrows in equal measure.
