Jagan wants to send Naidu to jail at the earliest!

It appears the Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy government in Andhra Pradesh wants to throw Telugu Desam Party president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu behind the bars in the Amaravati land scam as soon as possible.

Within hours of the state high court granting a stay on the investigation by Crime Investigation Department into the alleged scam in the acquisition of assigned lands from Dalits under land pooling in Amaravati, the government is learnt to have decided to move the Supreme Court.

According to reports from power corridors of Tadepalli, the chief minister is learnt to have asked the CID authorities to challenge the high court order in the Supreme Court and get the stay evicted at the earliest.

Sources said the chief minister was keen on forcing Naidu to come to the CID office on March 23 at any cost and get him arrested after due interrogation.

The state high court granted stay on the investigation and Naidu’s arrest for four weeks, but Jagan wants the stay to be evicted by the Supreme Court soon.

Justice C Manavendranath Roy of the high court on Friday ordered a stay on the investigation taken up by the CID against Naidu, who was named the accused no. 1 (A-1) in the First Information Report registered against on March 12.

Justice Roy, who heard the arguments on the petitions, asked the CID to produce evidence to show whether it had any prima facie evidence against Naidu and Narayana.

Counsel for the CID Jasti Nagabhushanam said no details could be revealed at this stage and further investigation was required to prove the charges against the accused.

After hearing the arguments from both the sides, Justice Roy granted a stay on the probe and asked the CID to produce the prima facie evidences in the case.
