Jagan to give road map to party for 2024

YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has suddenly called for a broad-based party meeting on April 27, ahead of the party’s plenary to be held on July 8, to work out the party strategy for the next two years.

The Tuesday’s meeting will be attended by the ministers, recently appointed district party presidents, regional coordinators and presidents of party’s affiliated organisations.

It is for the first time that Jagan will be meeting such a big gathering of the members of the YSRC party organisation at various levels, after he became the chief minister.

According to sources, the chief minister will be presenting a roadmap for the party for the next two years.

He is expected to share the feedback he has received from various sources, including the intelligence as well as his own network being monitored by Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC) headed by strategist Prashant Kishor.

It is learnt Jagan will disclose his mind as to whether his government would complete the full term or go to early elections at least six months ahead of the schedule. For that, he will give a direction to the party leaders as to how they should go about in the coming days.

“In the fast changing political scenario at the national level, the party has to reassess its strategy on going to elections early or stick to the original schedule. The party needs to be prepared for any eventuality,” a party functionary said.

Sources said Jagan would like to fix specific targets to each minister, district party president and regional coordinators on how many seats the party should win in the next elections. They should identify the weak areas and come out with strategies on how to fix them.

He would also focus on disgruntled elements in the party and their impact on the party prospects in the elections, in the event of them resorting to any sabotage.

He would also send a stern warning to them – to either be with the party and wait for the opportunities or get lost from the party.

“He doesn’t want to be lenient towards any dissident elements and will send a message that they would be booted out of the party, however big they might be. He is going to begin cleansing of the party in the right earnest,” sources said.
