Jagan showers sops on employees!

When Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu was in power till recently, he made every attempt to woo the employees with various facilities – five-day week, raising of retirement age from 58 to 60 and construction of residential quarters for government employees in Amaravati etc.

But what he forgot was their immediate demands – payment of interim relief pending revision of their pay scales and scrapping of contributory pension scheme (CPS).

In fact, doing away with CPS has been the demand of government employees in all the states, but no government dared to implement it.

However, on Saturday, new chief minister of Andhra Pradesh took the bold decision of scrapping the CPS.

The YSRC chief made the announcement at an interaction with the employees soon after taking the charge in the official chambers of the chief minister at Secretariat.

He said the state Cabinet which would be meeting on Monday would take an official decision on doing away with the CPS and restoring the old pension scheme.

Jagan also announced granting of 27% of the salary as Interim Relief to all the employees, pending revision of their pay scales.

Besides, the YSRC president also declared increase in the salaries of contract works with immediate effect.

“We will also consider the demand for regularisation of jobs of contract workers depending on their experience and qualifications,” he said.
