Almost a year after facing a humiliating defeat in the state assembly elections, the YSR Congress party leaders are coming out with their own reasons for the loss of the party and the mistakes made by the party leadership.
On Saturday, former YSR Congress party MLA Nallapureddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy also pointed out one of the biggest blunders of YSRCP president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy that led to the party’s downfall in the elections.
He asserted that had Jagan not committed the mistake, the party might still have been in power today. He also expressed his intention to convey the same message to party president.
So, what is the blunder committed by Jagan? According to Prasanna Kumar Reddy, not aligning with the BJP in the previous elections was a serious mistake.
Despite BJP’s willingness to join hands with the YSRCP, Jagan failed to seize the opportunity, he said.
He pointed out that the YSRCP had supported every bill introduced by the BJP in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha over the past five years.
Hence, he argued, maintaining a friendship with such a party was logical. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's integrity and said once Modi gives his word, he would stand by it.
Prasanna Kumar Reddy said Modi and Amit Shah, in fact, do not trust Chandrababu Naidu.
“Modi has definitely not forgotten how Naidu reviously spoken inappropriately about him and his wife in the assembly,” he said.
Similarly, when Amit Shah visited Tirumala, stones and slippers were thrown at his convoy at Chandrababu Naidu's behest.
Furthermore, when Modi was the chief minister of Gujarat, Chandrababu Naidu had stated that he would not allow Modi to set his foot in Hyderabad, the YSRCP leader pointed out.
“Due to these old wounds, he claimed, Modi and Amit Shah have no interest in Chandrababu Naidu. Yet, they were forced to join hands with the TDP chief because of the initiative taken by Pawan Kalyan and also Jagan’s lack of interest in having alliance with the BJP,” Prasanna Kumar Reddy said.
Looking ahead, he hoped that Jagan would join hands with the BJP at least by next elections, so that India would progress under Modi’s leadership and Andhra Pradesh under Jagan’s leadership.
