Jagan Govt To Move SC On Vizag Guest House!

The YSR Congress party government is contemplating moving the Supreme Court challenging the status quo granted by the state high court on the construction of a state guesthouse at Kapuluppada in Visakhapatnam.

According to sources, the Jagan Mohan Reddy government is planning to file a special leave petition in the apex court stating that the high court cannot interfere in the construction of the state guest house, which is a policy decision of the government.

“The construction of the guest house is purely an administrative decision and has nothing to do with the shifting of capital from Amaravati to Visakhapatnam. The high court cannot interfere in the policy decisions of the government,” sources said.

The Jagan government is learnt to have raised strong objection to the high court’s direction seeking submission of construction plan and the budgetary allocation for the guest house in Visakhapatnam.

“The high court has no locus standi in asking for such details,” sources quoting officials said.

Meanwhile, the high court on Saturday accepted yet another public interest litigation petition on the construction of guest house at Visakhapatnam. It was filed by Amaravati Joint Action Committee leader Gadde Tirupati Rao.

In the PIL, Rao argued that construction of a guest house in the land allocated to the Greyhounds police wing was illegal.

He reminded that the previous government had already spent over Rs 1,000 crore for the Greyhound police training wing in the land and if the government constructs a guest house, all this money would go waste.
