Jagan govt building data bank of film artistes

The Jagan Mohan Reddy government in Andhra Pradesh is planning to build a data bank of artistes, aspiring artistes and technicians of film industry, electronic media and theatre.

According to a government order issued by the state information and public relations commissioner T Vijay Kumar, the managing director of AP State Film, Television and Theatre Development Corporation has requested the government to build the data Bank.

The corporation would enrol and upload the data of artistes, upcoming artistes and technicians etc in the corporation's website. The data can be accessed by producers and film units.

This will enable the producers/production houses to pick up local talent, thereby saving costs of getting artists/technicians etc., from Hyderabad and other states and thus nurture local talent. Upon enrolment, the corporation will issue identity cards indicating their trade, to avoid impersonation, the GO said.

The ID card proposed to be issued to the enrolled artists, technicians etc., is only for identification in the industry and it has no other added values, and this does not entail any responsibility or obligation in any manner on the government.

The GO said the expenditure required for building this data bank could be met from out of the budget allocation made to the corporation.

The Managing Director of the corporation shall frame rules and regulations for enrolling of artists, technicians etc., and to issue ID cards to them.
