Jagan fixes new date for public outreach campaign?

In November 2024, YSR Congress Party president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy announced plans to tour the state after Sankranti, treating each parliamentary constituency as a unit to expose what he described as the anti-people governance of the Telugu Desam Party-led coalition government.

The programme was named “Jagananna with Party Cadre – Strengthening YSRCP.”

As part of the initiative, Jagan stated that he would meet YSRCP workers from three assembly constituencies every Wednesday and from four segments every Thursday.

However, the plan did not materialize as promised around Sankranti (January 14), and the party offered no explanation for the delay.

Later, leaders stated that the outreach programme would begin after Ugadi, which fell on March 30 — but that too came and went without action.

Now, as Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s government approaches its one-year mark on June 12, party leaders are once again hinting to the media that Jagan will launch his long-delayed outreach campaign in July, this time as a political counteroffensive.

The new date being circulated within party circles is July 8, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Jagan’s father, the late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy.

The plan reportedly remains the same: Jagan will spend two days in each parliamentary constituency, meeting party workers from all seven assembly segments within that unit.

While some senior leaders had initially felt that taking to the streets just one year into the coalition government’s tenure might be premature, the increasing number of legal cases being filed against YSRCP leaders appears to have changed the calculus.

Jagan, sources say, believes morale among party cadres must be revived, and has discussed the strategy with top leadership.

A tentative schedule is now being drafted, with early visits planned in strongholds of the coalition such as the Godavari districts or Srikakulam.

The campaign will reportedly focus on highlighting the government’s alleged failures, unfulfilled promises, and political targeting through legal action.

Party insiders suggest that a formal announcement of the tour is likely to come after Jagan’s scheduled visit to Palnadu next week.

The outreach is expected to be aggressive and strategically timed, signaling a new phase in YSRCP’s political response.
