Jagan challenges CBI court verdict in HC!

Jagan challenges CBI court verdict in HC!

Within an hour of a CBI special court dismissing the petition of YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy seeking personal exemption from appearing in the trial court in connection with the CBI case pending against him, his lawyers moved the high court.

According to the reports, his lawyers challenged the CBI court’s verdict stating that Jagan was entitled to get the exemption in accordance with the principles of natural justice.

They pointed out that Jagan is not an ordinary politician now but is in a responsible position of the chief minister of a state, which required his presence all through the week to administer the state. As such, he cannot attend the trial court every Friday.

They also argued that being the chief minister, Jagan will have to be given all the protocol facilities including security wherever he goes.

And so, he cannot attend the case in his individual capacity, but in the capacity of the chief minister and naturally, the government will have to incur all the expenses to fulfil the protocol formalities.

“The exemption is sought only in the interest of the larger interest of people of Andhra Pradesh but not because it is inconvenient for Jagan”, the lawyers argued.
