Jagan cancels bus yatra, to use chopper!

With the Election Commission announcing the election schedule giving hardly three weeks’ time for the parties for campaigning, YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy cancelled his plans to take up bus yatra for electioneering.

As per the original plan, Jagan wanted to go on a bus yatra to tour the constituencies which he could not cover during his year-long padayatra.

He is expected to tour as many as 45 assembly constituencies during the bus yatra.

However, the election schedule is so tight that Jagan will have hardly any time to cover all of them.

As a result, he has decided to hire a helicopter and travel from place to place to cover more ground and also save a lot of time, party sources said.

According to party spokesman T Raghuram, Jagan initially wanted to address three public meetings every day but due to paucity of time, he will take up a whirlwind tour of the state to address more rallies in a day. The schedule will be announced once in three days, he said.

Jagan will kick-start his campaign from March 16 after paying tributes to his late father Y S Rajasekhar Reddy at Idupulapaya in Kadapa district.

He will fly to Gurajala and address the first public meeting at Piduguralla. It will be followed by public meetings at Narsipatnam, Nellimerla and P Gannavaram.

Before starting the campaign, he will announce the list of contesting candidates. Jagan’s mother and YSRC honorary president YS Vijayamma and sister Y S Sharmila will also campaign for the party in the elections.
