Rebel YSR Congress party MP from Narsapuram parliamentary constituency in West Godavari district Kanumuri Raghurama Krishnam Raju appears to have turned a crude publicity monger for himself, apparently realising that people have stopped acknowledging him as a serious politician.
Till recently, he had been addressing daily press conferences at Andhra Bhavan in New Delhi to spew venom on YSRC president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy. Since journalists saw some entertainment value in his talk, they used to attend his press meets regularly.
After a few days, they understood that he is a boring politician and there is no substance in what he is saying. Moreover, managements of newspapers and channels have stopped giving him regular coverage.
So, he started looking for new issues to gain publicity. The other day, he filed a petition in the CBI court seeking cancellation of bail of Jagan Mohan Reddy and got some good coverage in the media.
Since BJP in-charge of Andhra affairs Sunil Deodhar said a day before that Jagan’s bail would be cancelled soon, Raju’s petition was taken a little seriously by the media. But when the CBI court refused to accept it, he became a joke.
So, Raju came up with this yet another drama to garner more publicity in the media. He wrote a letter to Prime Minister seeking additional security cover to him, on the pretext that he was receiving calls from “Kadapa gang” threatening to eliminate him.
And he declared that he would not step into Andhra Pradesh again, unless Jagan was cleared of all charges and proved not guilty in the cases against him!
