Global Investors Summit: All the best AP, says KTR

As the port city of Visakhapatnam is being spruced up to host the Global Investors Summit, the prestigious event of Andhra Pradesh government headed by chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, on March 3 and 4, congratulatory messages are pouring in from all parts of the country.

The best wishes came from neighbouring state of Telangana. State information technology and industries minister K T Rama Rao tweeted wishing all the best to Andhra Pradesh state and Visakhapatnam for the event.

“Good luck to our younger brother Visakhapatnam and sister state AP as they conduct their Global Investors Summit. I wish them the very best. May both Telugu speaking states prosper and be the best in India,” KTR tweeted.

Interestingly, KTR attached a newspaper clipping which quoted Andhra industries minister Gudivada Amarnath as saying that he was proud of “big brother Hyderabad’s development.”

Apparently, KTR was jubilant over Amarnath acknowledging Hyderabad as the big brother and the achievements of Telangana. That is perhaps why he had described Visakhapatnam as “younger brother” and AP as “sister state.”

The GIS, being held for the first time after Jagan came to power in 2019, is expected to witness a turnout of more than 8,000 delegates from various industries and organisations.

Amarnath said the state government was targeting at least Rs 2 lakh crore investments during the two-day summit.

“We have identified as many as 13 priority sectors including agriculture, agro-based industries, maritime sector, manufacturing, food processing, ports, Information Technology and electronics, handlooms, and textiles for potential investments,” state industries minister Gudivada Amarnath told reporters.

The two-day summit is expected to bring who’s who of the Indian industry. According to Amarnath, those who have firmed up their participation include Mukesh Ambani, K M Birla, Karan Adani, Sanjiv Bajaj, Sajjan Jindal, Naveen Jindal, G M Rao, Krishna M Ella, Puneet Dalmia, Arjun Oberoi, Sumant Sinha, Sajjan Bhajanka, Harimohan Bangur, N Srinivasan and B V R Mohan Reddy.
