Senior politician and former minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, who won the 2024 elections as MLA from Bheemili in Visakhapatnam district, has been moving strategically within the Telugu Desam Party after being denied a cabinet berth.
Known for his political acumen, Ganta appears to have realised that the real power centre in the party is shifting towards Nara Lokesh.
Recently, he visited Mangalagiri to meet Minister Lokesh personally. Though he explained that the discussion was about Bheemili constituency development works, party insiders say the real intent was to strengthen his closeness with Lokesh.
Ganta is said to be constantly highlighting his support for “Chinnababu” (Lokesh) in public forums, with speculation that his long-term goal is either to secure a ministerial berth for himself or to pave the way for his son to contest in 2029.
By aligning with Lokesh, Ganta is also ensuring government cooperation for constituency development over the next four years.
His strategy appears to be to complete major works by the next elections so that either he or his son can contest with a clear advantage.
For now, Ganta’s political moves remain one of the most interesting developments to watch in the TDP.
