Former minister Avanti Srinivas is reportedly facing political setbacks — ironically caused by a move he once made himself.
The buzz is that Ganta Srinivasa Rao, his former political ally and now Bheemili TDP MLA, is playing a key role in stalling Avanti’s return to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
Years ago, it was Ganta who introduced Avanti into politics by bringing him into the Praja Rajyam Party and supporting his candidature from Bheemili.
When Praja Rajyam merged with the Congress, Ganta became a minister and Avanti followed his lead. Before the 2014 elections, both joined TDP, and Ganta even helped secure the Anakapalli MP ticket for Avanti.
Their mentor-disciple relationship began to sour in 2019 when both sought the Bheemili MLA ticket. Ganta refused to back down, prompting Avanti to shift to the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), where he won and served as a minister for three years.
Ironically, during this period, it was rumored that Ganta considered joining YSRCP, but Avanti reportedly blocked his entry at the time.
Fast forward to 2024, after YSRCP’s electoral defeat, Avanti is said to be seeking a re-entry into TDP. However, the tables have turned — Ganta is now reportedly opposing Avanti’s return, possibly as payback for the past.
As a result, Avanti’s political future appears to be in limbo, caught in a web of old rivalries and new realities.
