First Day-First Show to watch new movies at home in AP

Andhra Pradesh State Fibrenet Limited (APSFL) chairman Gowtham Reddy announced on Tuesday the launch of the First Day-First Show program, allowing viewers to watch new movies on the day of their release from the comfort of their homes.

The program is set to commence on June 2 in Visakhapatnam, with viewers able to access the movies by subscribing to the service.

Reddy emphasized that both film producers and audiences would benefit from this arrangement, as APSFL aims to provide an opportunity to watch new movies at home. The program follows the format of a traditional First Day-First Show experience.

The program will be inaugurated by Industries Minister Gudivada Amarnath in Visakhapatnam, with the presence of actor R Sai and members of the producers council, C Kalyan and Rama Satyanarayana.

The movie "Nirikshana" will be screened through APSFL as part of this program.

Given the increasing number of movie enthusiasts and the emergence of platforms like OTT, subscribers can enjoy new movies by paying a subscription fee of Rs 99, enabling them to watch the movies live without relying on OTT platforms, Reddy explained.

He further highlighted that this system would be particularly beneficial for those residing in rural areas, where APSFL connectivity is already strong, making it convenient for viewers who cannot travel to towns to watch movies in theaters.

Reddy clarified that this initiative would not pose any difficulties for theater owners, management, or actors. He assured theater owners that they need not worry about footfall, as this program should be seen as complementary to theaters.

Additionally, he emphasized that films would be screened through APSFL only when producers approached the organization.

To enhance connectivity between APSFL and the people of Andhra Pradesh, a target of laying 55,000 km of Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) has been set. So far, 37,000 km of cable laying has been completed, and out of the 11,254 gram panchayats, 7,600 villages have been provided with fiber net connectivity, Reddy added.
