Fearing social media trolls, Chaganti rejects TTD post

Two months after he was appointed the Dharmic Adviser of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) recently in January this year, noted scholar and spiritual preacher Chaganti Koteswara Rao on Saturday refused to accept the post.

The decision to appoint Chaganti as the Dharmic advisor to the TTD was taken at the executive committee meeting of Hindu Dharma Prachara Parishad held on January 20 and was revealed to the media by TTD trust board chairman Y V Subba Reddy.

Chaganti welcomed the decision and thanked the TTD as well. He also met Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy at the latter’s camp office in February to express his gratitude. Jagan felicitated Chaganti on the occasion.

However, for some strange reasons, the spiritual preacher on Saturday declared that he was politely rejecting the advisor post.

“I don’t require any post to give advices to the TTD. Whenever the TTD requires my services, I am ready to extend the same and give advices,” he said.

Changanti declared that Lord Venkateshwara was in his breath and he doesn’t need any posts or positions to serve the god.

Why did Chaganti take two months to reject the post? Apparently, he was peeved with the kind of trolling on the social media about his appointment. Many people attributed political motives to him.

Secondly, there was also a talk in the social media that he was recommended for the post by Shantha Biotechnics Limited founder and managing director K.I. Varaprasad Reddy. In fact, Chaganti met Jagan along with Varaprasad Reddy.

“There is already a criticism that Chaganti is a corporate preacher. So, his appointment to the TTD as advisor at the behest of Varaprasad Reddy might have led to severe trolling on the social media. That seems to have hurt him a lot,” sources said.
