Fact Sheet: Adani's Andhra Ad Stirs Debate

The Adani Group recently took over operations of the Navi Mumbai International Airport project in Maharashtra.

While it’s common for companies to issue public advertisements marking such milestones, what caught everyone’s attention this time was that thank-you advertisements to Prime Minister Narendra Modi appeared prominently in Andhra Pradesh’s Telugu newspapers — sparking widespread curiosity and debate.

The full-page ad read, “Thank you, Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” expressing gratitude for the government’s support in the airport project.

However, the placement of this ad in Andhra newspapers — despite the project being in Maharashtra — has raised eyebrows.

Many in Andhra Pradesh are questioning the motive behind the move.

Some believe it’s part of Adani’s brand-building strategy across states, while others see it as a political gesture to reinforce the group’s proximity to the Centre.

The episode has reignited discussions around the Modi–Adani relationship, with critics calling it a symbolic flex of influence.

Meanwhile, on social media, the term “Adanipradesh” has gone viral, reflecting the growing intrigue around corporate–political alignments in the region.
