YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s past press meets often lacked impact and gave the impression that he was merely reading from a script.
However, for the first time, his latest press conference drew significant attention and delivered a strong message.
He presented his allegations against the ruling party in a convincing manner — reading only the statistics and figures from documents while articulating the rest of his arguments in his own words.
He began by focusing on financial matters, comparing the loans raised by Chandrababu Naidu within less than a year of his current term to those raised by Jagan over his entire five-year tenure.
With supporting data, he stated that Chandrababu has already taken on 41% of the total debt that Jagan had accumulated in five years.
Next, he turned to the issue of Amaravati’s building projects and the perceived wastage on new proposals.
He questioned the need to construct a 53 lakh sq. ft. Secretariat and Assembly complex when existing buildings already cover a substantial 6 lakh sq. ft.
He also pointed out that Telangana's Secretariat spans just 8 lakh sq. ft., suggesting that the proposed scale is an unnecessary expenditure.
He then addressed the liquor policy, attempting to highlight the transparency of his regime by referring to the QR code system implemented on every liquor bottle.
He contrasted this with Chandrababu Naidu’s current policies, alleging that they are designed to benefit his close associates in the liquor business.
Overall, his defense was effective. He also made it clear that he is currently in Vijayawada and not running away from any investigation.
He stated that he has no fear of arrest if warranted. This confidence, clarity, and conviction made a strong impression.
