Andhra Pradesh state legislative council member Duvvada Srinivas and his live-in partner Divvela Madhuri, who have always been creating news on social media with public display of their romance, have once again landed in controversy in Tirumala.
Duvvada and Madhuri allegedly celebrated the birthday of Bigg Boss fame Tanuja in violation of temple town regulations.
The trio visited Tirumala on Wednesday for the darshan of Lord Venkateswara and later, they reportedly celebrated a birthday inside a guest house in Tirumala late Wednesday night.
According to reports, a cake was brought to the hill shrine and cut during the celebration despite strict restrictions against conducting private celebrations such as birthdays in Tirumala.
Videos of the event were later shared by Madhuri on her social media accounts, triggering criticism from devotees who alleged that such activities undermine the sanctity of the sacred temple town.
This development assumes significance as Srinivas and Madhuri were scheduled to appear in court the following day in connection with a 2024 case related to a controversial photo shoot and reels shot in Tirumala, which had earlier sparked outrage.
Temple authorities said the act violates Tirumala’s established norms that prohibit personal celebrations and cake cutting on the hill shrine.
Based on the video circulating online, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) vigilance wing has launched an inquiry into how the cake was brought into the restricted zone.
In an official statement, the TTD said it had taken serious note of the incident.
“TTD has come to the notice that two individuals, Divvela Madhuri and Tanuja, celebrated a birthday in Tirumala yesterday. Such celebrations are completely prohibited in Tirumala. Recording the event and posting it on social media is also inappropriate,” the statement said.
The temple body added that it has already lodged a complaint with the vigilance police seeking legal action against those involved. Police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
