Dhulipalla quits Sangam Dairy trust

Senior Telugu Desam Party leader and former MLA Dhulipalla Narendra has announced his resignation from Sangem Dairy trust, which ran into trouble due to takeover by the Jagan Mohan Reddy government on charges of irregularities in the company.

Narendra told reporters that he would also be quitting the post of chairman of Dhulipalla Veeraiah Chowdary (DVS) trust, which runs the dairy.

“I will not interfere in the trust affairs. The person who is appointed as Sangem Dairy chairman will also look after the trust affairs,” he said.

The former MLA said he was very much pained at the allegations made against him that he had looted the trust assets.

“Hereafter, the Sangem Dairy management itself will operate the trust. I will have nothing to do with the dairy and the trust,” he said.

Narendra said those who had worked in the dairy in the past was dragging the trust to the court by filing petitions in the court. Some politicians were behind these ex-officials, encouraging them to create controversies.

“Whether they are from my own party or the other parties, it is not correct for them to drag the trust into politics, as thousands of people are surviving on the dairy activities. Let them face me, I will counter them politically,” he said.

The TDP leader said the Anti-Corruption Bureau authorities, who had implicated him in the corruption case, could not come out with a single evidence to prove that he had resorted to irregularities.

“They examined tons of papers, but could not find even a single fault,” he said.

Dhulipalla was arrested on April 23, 2021, on charges of corruption and misappropriation of public property regarding Sangam Dairy. The dairy was taken over by the AP Dairy Development Corporation and the responsibility of day-to-day operations of the dairy was entrusted to Tenali sub-collector.

The high court, however, struck down the government order later and restored the company back to the original management.
