Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu appears to be receiving ground-level feedback indicating growing public dissatisfaction with his government — particularly due to the underperformance of ministers and widespread corruption at the grassroots level by MLAs.
A few days ago, Naidu pulled up his party’s MLAs, stating that he had received reports about their poor performance and negative public feedback.
He warned them that if they did not improve, he would not hesitate to deny them tickets in the next elections.
On Wednesday, it was the ministers’ turn to face his ire.
Following the conclusion of an official cabinet meeting, Naidu interacted with his ministers and expressed serious dissatisfaction with their performance.
Issuing a stern warning, he said: “Ministers, start counting your days! If you don’t respond properly or fail to respect party workers and leaders, you will be replaced! You will once again see the kind of Chief Minister I was in 1995.”
Naidu expressed concern that none of the ministers were delivering results as expected. He also criticized their delayed response to a recent incident in which a YSRCP leader allegedly insulted a woman MLA.
The Chief Minister instructed all ministers to stay alert and well-informed about developments across the state. He noted that the prices of essential commodities had come down significantly and praised the cabinet sub-committee’s role in making that happen.
However, he also rebuked the ministers for failing to communicate these positive developments to the public effectively. He personally read out the revised, reduced prices of essential commodities in Andhra Pradesh to make his point.
Naidu also launched a direct attack on opposition leader Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, accusing him of provoking farmers to oppose land allocations for Indosol and of spreading false propaganda through his media outlets by claiming that industries are leaving the state.
“But the ministers are not effectively countering the YSRCP’s negative campaign,” Naidu said. “If you don’t fulfill your responsibilities, it will cost you dearly.”
