Controversy Surrounds JS Candidate Uday

Controversy Surrounds JS Candidate Uday

Jana Sena's candidate for Kakinada Lok Sabha, Tangella Uday Srinivas, is facing potential disqualification as YSRC leaders intensify their efforts to challenge his candidacy.

The accusation centers on the alleged omission of details regarding his criminal cases in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, in his electoral affidavit.

YSRC leaders have petitioned the Ministry of External Affairs, highlighting the criminal charges Uday Srinivas faced in the UAE.

They claim that he failed to declare multiple pending cases in his election affidavit, involving accusations ranging from cricket betting to other legal issues in Sharjah.

Furthermore, there's controversy surrounding his educational qualifications.

While introduced by Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan as a software engineer, Uday Srinivas's affidavit states that he only completed Intermediate education and discontinued his Bachelor of Technology course.

Adding to the complexity, Pawan Kalyan’s financial declarations have also come under scrutiny.

Despite claiming an annual income of not less than Rs 1,000 crore as a film star, his election affidavit reports only Rs 114 crore over five years, prompting opponents to highlight discrepancies between his claims and documented earnings.

Independent candidate Saladi Uday Bhaskar has also raised objections, accusing Uday Srinivas of hiding crucial information in his affidavit.

Specific details omitted include criminal cases pending in Sharjah and a look-out notice issued by the Sharjah Public Prosecution on April 4, 2024.

Legal documents from the UAE reveal that Judge Hossam EI-Din Hassan Mustafa Muhammad Hadr of the Sharjah Federal Court issued a habeas corpus and seizure order against Uday Srinivas in 2022, related to allegations of document forgery.

The court ordered his arrest unless a fine of 1,200,000 dirhams was paid, and noted a six-month prison term and deportation upon sentence completion.

Given these allegations, the complaint to election officials argues that Uday Srinivas’s incomplete and potentially misleading affidavit could misinform voters, urging the election commission to reject his nomination based on the presented evidence.
