Comments against judges: CBI to quiz Amanchi again

Senior YSR Congress party leader and former MLA from Chirala assembly constituency Amanchi Krishna Mohan is going to be face interrogation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for his alleged remarks against judiciary two years ago.

On Tuesday, the CBI served notices on Krishna Mohan under Section 41 (A) of CrPC, asking him to appear before the agency on Wednesday for questioning in connection with his comments allegedly made against judiciary.

This is the second time that Krishna Mohan would be appearing before the CBI on the same issue. In the past, he had deposed before the agency in Visakhapatnam in June 2020 under the same section.

The CBI has been investigating the case pertaining to objectionable and unwarranted comments against the judiciary by some social media activists supporting the YSR Congress party government led by chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, following a direction from the state high court.

The social media activists allegedly posted comments in the social media, finding fault with the high court for delivering a series of judgements against the Jagan Mohan Reddy government, including in using YSRCP colours for village secretariats and Dr Sudhakar case.

More than 50 people were issued notices by the CBI and around 12 people were arrested. The CBI also issued notices to YSRC MP from Bapatla Nandigam Suresh and Amanchi Krishna Mohan and questioned them.
