Cockfights: Telangana cops call Chintamaneni bluff

Within hours of senior Telugu Desam Party leader and former Denduluru MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar took to social media denying conduct of cockfights at Patancheru on Hyderabad outskirts, the Telangana police released evidences to show his involvement.

Patancharu deputy superintendent of police Bheem Reddy released video clippings showing Chintamaneni participating in cockfights at a mango garden at Chinna Kanjarla village on the outskirts of Patencheru on Tuesday evening and leaving the venue after some time.

“Chintamaneni was indeed present at the cockfights. When we raided the camp, he hurriedly left the place and fled Hyderabad,” Bheem Reddy said.

It was only in the morning that Chintamaneni made a statement through Facebook that he was being victimised by the Andhra Pradesh government with the support of Telangana police.

“Is such a devilish politics required? I was no way concerned with the cockfights. Yet, the police are trying to implicate me,” he alleged.

The Patancheru DSP said during the investigation, it was revealed that Chintamaneni was the main organiser of the cockfights and he had fled the spot when the police in mufti had raised the farmhouse.

“Even those arrested – Akkineni Satish, Krishnam Raju and Barla Srinu confessed that it was Chintamaneni, who was organising these fights. They all had formed a WhatsApp group and are organising these gambling activities,” he said.

In all, 40 persons have fled the spot along with Chintamaneni and the police are on the look-out for them.

“They were originally organising these cockfights in Bidar, but when the local police objected to the same, they came to Patancheru,” he added.
