For the last few days, Telugu Desam Party leaders and cadres have been suspecting, albeit in their private conversations, that the Bharatiya Janata Party national leadership was behind the arrest of party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
However, their own party colleague in the past and former Union minister Sujana Chowdary made it clear on Wednesday that the Narendra Modi government has absolutely no role in the arrest of Naidu.
“There is no blessings of the BJP leadership to the YSR Congress party presidentt and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy in adopting vengeance attitude towards Naidu, leading to his arrest in the skill development scam,” he said.
Stating that the BJP had no connection whatsoever with the ongoing developments and atrocities in Andhra Pradesh, Sujana said the party high command had been silent because the issue is sub judice.
“The BJP is the largest political party in the country. I do not know exactly what the policy of our party national leadership is with regard to the political developments in Andhra Pradesh. It discloses some issues and doesn’t disclose certain things. So, I don’t know what is there in the mind of the party leadership,” he said.
He, however, said the BJP leaders in Andhra Pradesh are of the view that the ongoing developments would definitely harm the party to some extent in the state, as the people are angry with the BJP.
“We have no option but to wait for the court judgements,” the former Union minister said.
Sujana, however, felt that the manner in which Chandrababu Naidu was arrested was wrong, as the cops had not followed due procedure.
“It is surprising that the investigating officer has chosen to disclose the issues pertaining to investigation to the media. It is against the Supreme Court ruling,” he said.
He regretted that there were no values in politics now.
“However, the people of Andhra Pradesh have nothing to worry. Maybe, Jagan is of the view that his party can win the elections by diverting the politics in Andhra Pradesh in the next three or four months. But Naidu’s arrest is definitely a negative point for Jagan,” Sujana added.
