CBN's Political Letter When The State Is Burning

CBN's Political Letter When The State Is Burning

TDP chief and Opposition leader N Chandrababu Naidu wrote a letter to State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar seeking action against the YSR Congress leaders in the State.

Naidu wrote a letter to the SEC quoting the media reports that some of the contesting candidates for the local body elections from the ruling party have distributed Rs 1000 to the people on behalf of the government and alleged that it was a clear violation of model code of conduct.

The TDP chief said that the ruling party was going against the poll code to influence the voters, though the elections were postponed.

It is clear that both Naidu and Nimmagadda are not happy with the YSR Congress coming to power and it is clearly visible to everyone by their actions.

While Naidu is justified for his unhappiness with the YSR Congress, Nimmagadda’s opposition is unjustified as he is holding a constitutional office.

Shockingly, both have forgot the fact that there is no model code of conduct in force in the State and the actions won’t come under the purview of the SEC.

The second point is that it is common for the ruling party leaders to be part of the government programmes and Chandrababu Naidu is well aware of it.

He had allowed the TDP’s Janma Bhoomi committees to plan and execute all government programmes during the last five years. The Janma Bhoomi committees are packed with the TDP activists at the village level.

The TDP had ignored the opposition MLAs in the government programmes and had made the party defeated candidates in-charges for any government work where the opposition MLAs are representing.

Having done so and knowing the fact that there is no model code of conduct, it is surprising to see Naidu seeking action and Nimmagadda too writing to the district officials for close watch.

These acts of the two are enough to prove that Nimmagadda is biased to the TDP and not being impartial as he holds the constitutional office, as accused by the YSR Congress leaders.

Interestingly, besides sharing the same political views, the two persons are camping in Hyderabad, far away from AP, which is battling against the coronavirus.
