The ongoing investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation into the murder of former Andhra Pradesh minister and ex-MP Y S Vivekananda Reddy has taken a new turn, with the YSR Congress party disclosing a petition filed by the slain leader’s alleged second wife, Shaik Shameem, with the CBI.
Although Shameem filed the petition in 2020, the CBI did not disclose it to the court, nor did it question her to probe the case from her angle.
All the while, the CBI was trying to point an accusing finger at Kadapa MP and Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s cousin, Y S Avinash Reddy, in the murder case.
In fact, Shameem’s name has been appearing in the media for the last two days, stating that she wanted a share in Viveka’s properties and that she was ready for a DNA test for her son, born from the slain MP.
But on Friday, her letter to the CBI surfaced in a section of the media and also on social media. In fact, Shameem wrote three different letters to the CBI as part of the investigation into the murder, but the agency did not bother to probe into her angle.
Shameem said she had married Viveka in 2010 long before his death. She claimed that after their marriage, his first wife and other family members kept him at bay.
She also alleged that she was threatened a few times by Narreddy Siva Sankar Reddy, the brother of Vivekananda Reddy’s son-in-law, Narreddy Rajasekhara Reddy.
In her statement, she said she had given birth to a child – Shahenshah – in 2015, from her relationship with Viveka.
She even claimed that Viveka had also converted to Islam and accordingly changed his name to Mohammed Akbar. He used to diligently offer prayers as per the Islamic traditions.
Shameem also claimed that Sunitha had warned her over her relationship with her father and told her to stay away from him.
According to her, Viveka had to face severe financial troubles after his family stripped him of his cheque power.
Adding another interesting twist, Shameem said in her statement that she was lodged at the house of a senior police officer during some of her visits to Hyderabad.
She merely referred to the official as ‘DGP Reddy sir’ and did not disclose his full name and details.
It remains to be seen how the CBI will react to her statement.
