Cabinet revamp: Can anybody read Jagan's mind?

Cabinet revamp: Can anybody read Jagan's mind?

The speculations over cabinet revamp by YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy have been going continuously in the media for the last two days.

Every news channel or print medium or the digital medium has been carrying one report or the other on the combination of the cabinet.

Even Jagan’s own media house Sakshi has been speculating on the retention of the number of ministers of the dissolved cabinet in the new cabinet.

Some media houses said Jagan would continue only two or three ministers of the old cabinet, while some others said the number would be five.

By Saturday afternoon, the figure changed and many media houses reported that Jagan would retain at least 10 ministers from the old cabinet.

Senior YSR Congress party leader and advisor to Jagan on public affairs Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, who held two rounds of discussions with the boss on Saturday, indicated that the new cabinet would be a mix of old and new ministers.

This led to further speculations that there would be at least 10-12 old ministers in the cabinet. Many media houses have also reported the names of the ministers to be retained. But Sajjala said there would be clarity on the new cabinet by Sunday afternoon.

Another speculation that came up afresh was that Jagan would cut down the number of Reddy and Kapu ministers, while completely doing away with representation to the Vysya and Kshatriya communities.

But sources close to Jagan say it is very difficult to read what is there in Jagan’s mind.

“Nobody can predict what he would do; not even Sajjala or Vijay Sai Reddy. He might take the feedback from them, but it is purely his decision. Nobody can dare question his choice,” a source said.

He said the YSRC is an individual-centric party and whatever decision Jagan takes, it is final.

“Those who don’t like his decision can get out of the party,” the source said.
