Brahmin Corpn gets applications for mutton shops!

Strange as it might sound, Andhra Pradesh Brahmin Corporation, which has sought applications from eligible poor Brahmins for providing financial assistance for various self-employment schemes, has received a few applications for setting up of mutton shops.

This has shocked the corporation, as it is a known fact that Brahmins generally do not consume meat, let alone operating mutton or chicken shops. And Brahmin Corporation doesn’t fund such shops.

Expressing shock over the applications, chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Brahmin Corporation Bucchi Ram Prasad called the development “strange” and “disturbing” and even suspected a conspiracy behind it.

Addressing a meeting with representatives of various Brahmin associations in Machilipatnam of Krishna district on Sunday, the chairman said at least four such applications had come to light during scrutiny of proposals for business loans.

He said the applications for mutton shops could be part of a conspiracy by the YSR Congress party to malign the present Telugu Desam Party-led coalition government and take political mileage out of it.

Stating that the matter was serious, Bucchi Ram Prasad announced that a detailed inquiry would be conducted to ascertain how such applications were accepted and whether any misuse or misrepresentation was involved.

During the meeting, the chairman outlined the current government’s initiatives aimed at the welfare and socio-economic upliftment of the Brahmin community.

He also assured the representatives that all welfare schemes that were discontinued or stalled during the YSRCP government’s tenure would be restored and implemented effectively.

The corporation, he said, remains committed to ensuring transparency and appropriate utilisation of funds meant for community development.
