Big number of AP people attended Delhi meet?

The sudden spurt in the number of positive Coronavirus cases and a few deaths in the Telugu states is now being attributed to the large scale gathering of people for a religious congregation held by Tablighi Jamaat, an Islamic organisation, at Nizamuddin in Delhi from March 15 to 17.

According to the information available so far, as many as 369 persons from Andhra Pradesh and around 380 from Telangana have attended the Delhi convention.

Sources said on average, about 25-30 members from each district attended the Tablighi Jamaat conference. An organiser from Mallepalli area in Hyderabad took care of their accommodation and food.

Here is the break-up of those who attended the Tablighi Jamaat meeting: Visakhapatnam (14), Vizianagaram (3), East Godavari (27), West Godavari (18), Krishna (40), Guntur (37), Prakasam (30), Nellore (33), Kurnool (107), Kadapa (24), Anantapur (14) and Chittoor (22).

In Telangana, as many as 186 persons attended the meeting from Hyderabad, 18 from Nizamabad, 26 from Medak, 21 from Nalgonda, 15 from Khammam, 10 from Adilabad, 15 from Ranga Reddy, 25 from Warangal, 17 from Karimnagar, 25 from Mahabubnagar, 11 from Bhainsa (Adilabad district) and 11 from Nirmal district.

After completion of meeting, members of AP and Telangana started their return journey on the evening of March 17 and most of the members reached their respective places in the two Telugu states by March 20.
