AP to invest Rs 1200 cr on 30 skill development colleges

The Andhra Pradesh government had decided to spend Rs 1200 crore to establish 30 skill development colleges in the state. 

The government had also proposed Skill Development University to head these 30 colleges coming up in 13 districts of the state. 

The government had already identified sites for each of these 30 colleges, each to come up on a sprawling 5 acres of land.

The government had decided to spend at least Rs 5 crore on each of these 30 colleges. The University would come on 50 acres of land near Tirupati.

In 2020, the AP government had introduced a new legislation directing the industries in the state to give 75 per cent of their jobs to the locals.

Accordingly, the skill development colleges were proposed to impart required skills to the people in every district. 

The skills are to suit the industry requirement and the first batch of the students are to be ready by 2024. 

The government had almost finalised the syllabus for these colleges and is tying up with the industries to promote these collges and provide jobs to the students.
