
A techie from Vijayawada, identified as Nalla Likhith, has been arrested in Cincinnati, Ohio, for allegedly attempting to engage in sexual activity with a person he believed to be a 15-year-old girl.
According to U.S. law enforcement officials, Hamilton County Police arrested Likhith on September 26 after an undercover operation.
He has been charged with importuning (soliciting a minor) and possession of criminal tools. The accused is currently being held on a $20,000 bond.
Court documents revealed that Likhith had been communicating online with an undercover officer posing as a 15-year-old.
During their exchanges, he allegedly offered $100 in exchange for sexual acts. The officer then arranged a meeting, where Likhith was taken into custody.
The case has drawn attention within the Indian community in the U.S., highlighting ongoing efforts by American authorities to monitor and prosecute cyber-based crimes involving minors.
