AP Judge On Retirement Greets Amaravati Farmers

AP Judge On Retirement Greets Amaravati Farmers

A judge of AP high court, Justice Mallavolu Satyanarayana Murthy, retired on Monday. The Bar Association, the High Court staff and the state government gave a farewell to him on his last working day.

On his return from the high court, the Amaravati farmers stood all along the route to thank him.

The farmers filled the road with flowers and thanked him with folded hands. The farmers have done so in the past for chief justice J K Maheswari, on his transfer in January 2021.

The Amaravati farmers have been holding protest against Jagan Mohan Reddy government’s decision on three capitals.

The high court, particularly with some judges sitting on the bench, too had given several judgments which were in favour of the farmers and against the government.

The Amaravati farmers have thanked those judges whenever they were transferred or retired, for giving judgments in their favour.

When Justice Satyanarayana Murthy retired, the farmers gave him a floral farewell, by standing all along the road.

But what surprised the onlookers was that the judge stood up in his vehicle and reciprocated the farmers’ thankful farewell.

Petitioners of a case might thank any judge, but how could a judge reciprocate? Doesn’t such a reciprocation give an impression that the judge was biased in the judgement to benefit the petitioner!?

By reciprocating Amaravati farmers’ gratitude in public, does justice Sathyanarayana Murthy accepted his biased judgment in the capital cases!?
