Another wicket down in Nellore YSRCP?

Another wicket down in Nellore YSRCP?

If the reports circulating on social media are to be believed, the YSR Congress party is likely to witness the fall of yet another wicket in Nellore district, causing embarrassment to the party leadership.

According to reports, former minister and senior YSRCP leader Nallapureddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy has also indicated to his followers that he might not continue in the party anymore, as he has not been receiving due respect within the party.

Already, three MLAs from Nellore – Anam Ramanarayan Reddy, Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, and Mekapati Chandrasekhakr Reddy – have revolted against the YSRCP and faced suspension from the party for turning rebels and defying the party line in the MLC elections.

Now, Prasanna is said to be following the same path. He has been sailing with party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy since 2012 and displaying unflinching loyalty towards the party.

But of late, sources said, Prasanna has been feeling neglected. He expected a cabinet berth after Jagan came to power in 2019 but was denied the same. Even in the second reshuffle, he was denied the berth in the cabinet.

On the other hand, the former minister is said to be terribly upset with the party leadership leaking to the media that he would not be getting the YSRC ticket for the next elections from Kovvur because his performance has not been up to the mark.

What is worse, Prasanna lamented before his followers that he has not been getting payments for the bills pertaining to various works undertaken by him in the constituency, forget the cabinet berth.

“There is no basic respect for me in the party. Why should I continue in the party? I have no other choice but to change the party,” he reportedly told his followers.

For now, Prasanna has no proper choice to continue his political career. He cannot go back to the TDP because he has been a bitter critic of the TDP as well as its president N Chandrababu Naidu.

If he joins the BJP, his political career will come to an end, as the BJP has no takers.

“The only option before him is to contest the next elections as an independent and prove his strength. He can think of joining other parties later depending on the election result,” a source said.
