Will make RK run around police stations: Jagan

Will make RK run around police stations: Jagan

In a direct threat to ABN Andhra Jyothy managing director and journalist Vemuri Radhakrishna, YSR Congress Party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday threated that the media baron would have to pay heavy penalty for his anti-YSRCP comments.

“Once we come to power in the next assembly elections, Radhakrishna will have to face the consequences. He will be taken from one police station to another without being given any respite,” Jagan warned, while addressing the party workers at his Tadepalli camp office.

He alleged that ABN Andhra Jyothy had shown no respect towards the YSRCP and had been acting in a hostile and vindictive manner against the party.

He said the media organisation had been targeting the YSRCP unfairly and accused it of deliberately maligning the party.

Jagan also alleged that YSRCP workers were being jailed and assaulted under the present dispensation.

“Radhakrishna too will face a similar situation in the coming days,” he warned.

The YSRCP chief took serious note of the comments made by Radhakrishna in his weekend talk on ABN-Andhra Jyothy channel.

The media baron said: “If tomorrow YS Jagan Mohan Reddy says that your wives are not your wives, they (YSRCP leaders) will blindly believe it and even go to the extent of treating their own wives as sisters and shamelessly look for marriage alliances; such are the spineless leaders in the YSR Congress Party!”

Jagan said using such repulsive language and dragging women into political discourse was not criticism; but a disgraceful and demeaning attack on women that raises serious questions about the kind of partisan journalism being practiced.

“We strongly condemn these remarks and emphasize that such statements are a deliberate attempt to insult women and distort public discourse. The real issue is that, unable to counter the “MAVIGUN” proposal politically, Chandrababu Naidu and his aligned media have resorted to diversion, misinformation, propaganda, and abuse,” he said.

The YSRCP party has written to the News Broadcasters & Digital Association (NBDA) and the National Commission for Women (NCW) seeking immediate action against ABN Andhra Jyothi for broadcasting derogatory and defamatory content against women.

YSRCP demanded strict action against the channel, its anchor, editor, and management, along with removal of the content and a public apology.

The party urged both NBDA and NCW to intervene and ensure accountability, stressing the need to uphold media responsibility, protect dignity, and maintain ethical standards.
