Andhra MLA's son arrested in drugs case

Andhra MLA's son arrested in drugs case

In a major embarrassment to Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from Jammalamdugu constituency in Andhra Pradesh C Adinarayana Reddy, the Hyderabad police on Friday arrested his son Sudheer Reddy in a drugs-related case.

Sudheer Reddy was taken into custody during a police crackdown on narcotics in the Narsingi area of Hyderabad.

According to police sources, medical tests conducted after his detention confirmed drug consumption, following which he was formally arrested and shifted to a de-addiction centre as per established protocol.

Another individual who was reportedly accompanying Sudheer Reddy at the time was also arrested.

Police were carrying out routine checks and surveillance in the Narsingi limits when they apprehended Sudheer Reddy.

Subsequent medical examination established the presence of narcotic substances in his system, leading to further legal action.

Sources indicate that this is not the first time Sudheer Reddy has come under the scanner for drug use. He was reportedly caught in similar cases in the past but managed to avoid serious legal consequences.

His fresh arrest has now revived scrutiny and sparked widespread discussion in Andhra Pradesh political circles.

Adinarayana Reddy, who earlier belonged to the Telugu Desam Party and the YSR Congress Party, joined the BJP ahead of the recent assembly elections and went on to win from the Jammalamadugu constituency.

With his son’s arrest now in the public domain, attention has turned to how the BJP leadership and the ruling coalition government in the State will respond to the incident.
