Andhra BJP pushing Naidu on backfoot!

Andhra BJP pushing Naidu on backfoot!

It looks like Bharatiya Janata Party leaders in Andhra Pradesh have decided to stonewall the attempts of Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu for an alliance with their party in the coming elections, along with Jana Sena Party of power star Pawan Kalyan.

A day after BJP state unit president Somu Veerraju virtually ruled out any understanding with the TDP, it was the turn of his party general secretary P Vishnu Vardhan Reddy on Thursday to step up the attack on the yellow party.

He came down heavily on Andhra Pradesh Telugu Desam Party president K Atchen Naidu for finding fault with the Centre for not taking any action on the failure of law and order during the Jagan Mohan Reddy government in the state.

“Atchen Naidu is doing a political overaction, creating an impression that the BJP leadership at the Centre was supporting the YSR Congress party government in the state. If the TDP has guts, it should put up a direct fight with the Jagan government, instead of dragging the BJP into it,” he said.

Vishnu Vardhan Reddy said it was in fact during the TDP regime that there was a collapse of law and order between 2018 and 2019.

“If at all there is any need for imposition of President’s Rule, it would have been done during the TDP regime itself when there was stone pelting on Amit Shah,” he said.

The BJP leader said the TDP was scared of fighting against the YSRCP government.

“They did not even dare file nomination in the by-elections to Badvel and Atmakur assembly elections. Even in local body elections, the TDP dropped its gun much before the fight,” he said.

Stating that the TDP has miserably failed as an opposition party on all fronts, Vishnu Vardhan Reddy said Naidu had no courage to pull up the YSRC government.

“The people have realised its failures. In order to cover it up, the TDP leaders are blaming the BJP,” he said.

He alleged that the then TDP government had insulted Prime Minister Narendra Modi by not following the protocol of receiving him at the airport and flying black balloons.

“Naidu has even funded the rival parties in the neighbouring state to defeat the BJP. He has joined hands with the Congress, a party against which the TDP was founded. That is why, the people had rejected the TDP in 2019,” the BJP leader said.

Describing the TDP as a party without values, Vishnu said Naidu had lost credibility by taking U-turns frequently for his political gains.

“The man who made wild allegations against the BJP is now craving for an alliance with it,” he said.
