Andhra assembly budget session from May 20?

After a long gap, the budget session of the Andhra Pradesh state assembly will be held for a few days starting May 20, according to reports from the power corridors in Amaravati.

A notification is expected to be issued shortly. The budget session was originally supposed to be held in the month of March but was deferred due to elections to municipalities and municipal corporations, followed by by-elections to Tirupati Lok Sabha seat.

The Jagan government got the vote-on-account budget for a period of three months be passed through promulgation of an ordinance, in order to draw funds from the Consolidated Fund for day-to-day expenses.

The Business Advisory Committee will decide as to how many days the session has to be held. In all probability, it will be a short session aimed at getting the approval for the ordinance and passing the regular budget.

On the first day, there would be mandatory joint session of the state legislative assembly and council which would be addressed by Governor Biswa Bhushan Harichandan. The following day, there would be discussion on the Motion of Thanks to the Governor’s address.

The assembly would also pay tributes to the deceased MLA from Badwel M Venkata Subbaiah and MLC Challa Ramakrishna Reddy.

The following day, finance minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy will present the budget in the House and there would be discussion on it for a couple of days.

The government is expected to get a few bills passed in the House, apart from adopting the budget, sources said.
