Anam sits in Oppn, Kotamreddy in backbenches!

As expected, the two rebel MLAs of YSR Congress party from Nellore district – Anam Ramanarayana Reddy from Venkatagiri and Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy from Nellore (rural) – have stayed away from the treasury benches in the state assembly when the budget session commenced on Tuesday.

Anam quietly entered the house and sat in the opposition benches along with the Telugu Desam Party MLAs, when Governor S Abdul Nazir was addressing the joint session of the assembly and council.

Though there is no restriction on the members taking their seats, except during the voting on any crucial bill, it is common that the ruling party MLAs sit in the treasury benches. But Anam chose to sit along with the TDP, though he did not join the party officially.

When TDP members like Vallabhaneni Vamsi, Maddali Giridhar or Karanam Balaram joined the YSRC, they were allotted separate seats by Speaker Tammineni Sitaram; yet, they technically, they are part of the TDP as per the records.

However, Anam did not join the TDP yet; so, he did not ask for any separate seat from the Speaker. But he preferred to be part of the opposition.

For quite some time, Anam has been making strong comments on the YSRC and the Jagan government. He has been stripped of the party in-charge post for Venkatagiri. Even on Tuesday, he expressed regrets over the degradation of values in Andhra Pradesh.

“It is unfortunate that even the police and the election officials are not able to discharge their duties properly and are dancing to the tunes of the ruling party leaders. The election commission has to take stern action against the erring  officials,” he said.

Meanwhile, another rebel Kotamreddy preferred to sit in the backbenches, instead of the treasury benches. He, however, did not mingle with the TDP.
